Police arrested 4 for selling stolen mobiles after changing IMEI

The police of Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) have arrested four members of a gang from Gulistan area of ​​the capital engaged in stealing mobile phones and selling those after changing the IMEI Number. They are - Abdul Motaleb (34), Mazharul Islam Anik (28), Md. Mahbub (29) and Md. Tarek Jameel Siam (24).

On Monday (July 15), Additional Commissioner of Police (Detective) Mohammad Haroon Or Rashid conveyed the matter in a press conference organized at the DB office on Minto Road.

According to the information given by him, the stolen mobiles after changing the IMEI numbers were kept secretly by the arrested Abdul Motaleb and Mazharul Islam Anik in Gulistan and Osmani Udyan areas. Even during the operation, around 46 mobile phones were recovered from the drawer of a public toilet of the City Corporation located in Osmani Udyan.

According to DB, the accused used to buy stolen mobiles and sell those after changing their IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) numbers. In this incident, DB recovered 105 stolen mobiles and various devices for changing IMEI.
